A jigsaw of life, death, and notions of identity, John Guare's vibrant and unsettling LANDSCAPE OF THE BODY is simultaneously a poetic portrait and an engrossing journey. Narrated with musicality and crude wisdom, the episodic nature of the play refuses to leave the audience comfortable or unmoved. The play, set in Greenwich Village during the early 1970's, follows a single mother as she tries to navigate her turbulent world. A cast of desperately eccentric characters forms the picture of a radical community amidst a landscape of destruction and loss. This production explores the divide between life and death and the ways we contort our identity as we try to find lives of meaning.
